Community-In-A-Box

Community-in-a-Box (CIAB) is a free, open-source PHP/MySQL application, designed for libraries looking to provide a community information website.

Please note: This application is provided as is. NSLS and NorthStarNet will not provide technical support for this application. While we are always interested in learning about any bugs, suggestions, or improvements, we do not promise to fix, implement, or improve the application.

Attention original Community-in-a-Box libraries: Original CIAB libraries should use care in upgrading to a new version. Original CIAB sites were customized beyond what is included in your stylesheet. When in doubt, download a backup. NSLS and NorthStarNet are not responsible and cannot provide technical support if information is lost in upgrading to a new version.

Instructions

1. If you don't have a MySQL database, you will need to create one and know the database name, a username and password with full control.
2. Download and upload these files to your website.
3. Change permissions on "/inc/mysql_config.php" to 777.
4. Browse to the website and click on the link for "INSTALL"
5. Follow the instructions
6. After you've finished installing, remove the "INSTALL" directory from your server.
